In a misguided attempt to boost employee morale, the Dum-E Company organized a downhill soapbox derby race and company picnic. This annual event, held from 1992 to 1999, became infamous for the numerous injuries and subsequent employee complaints it generated. Despite the inherent risks, management persisted, seemingly oblivious to the growing discontent.
The 5th annual race holds a special place in Dum-E Company lore. Attendees received a commemorative T-shirt. The design was boldly inspired by the iconic artwork of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth Alongside the shirt, attendees were promised "The best damn potato salad you've ever had."
